Steven L. Thorsrud

Shareholder

Steve Thorsrud is a shareholder, director and Vice-President of Keating, Bucklin & McCormack, Inc. He joined the firm in 1985. He has defended municipalities in numerous cases, including cases alleging police misconduct, civil rights claims, police pursuit, as well as road design, surface water/flooding, and landslides. Mr. Thorsrud has also defended numerous wrongful death and personal injury cases. Further, he has defended the Washington State Department of Corrections, Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, and the Washington State Department of Transportation.

  • Defense verdict in recreational land-use immunity case for the City of Bellingham involving a 16-year old who was rendered paraplegic in a City park. The plaintiff asked the jury for $27 million.
  • Defense verdict for the City of Kent in a three-week federal court jury trial involving alleged civil rights violations and alleged municipal liability.
  • Defense verdict for the City of Mount Vernon in a federal civil rights lawsuit involving claims of false arrest and excessive force.
  • Defense verdict for City of Puyallup in claim involving flooding damage of $1M to commercial building.
  • Defense verdict for City of Auburn involving damage to commercial building.
  • Favorable verdict for City of Mercer Island in case involving alleged negligent road design.
  • Favorable verdict for City of Anacortes in a case arising out of police emergency vehicle operation.

  • Mr. Thorsrud is a graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington.
